Age: 0–5 years
Year Group: Nursery and Reception

FOCUS :
Personal, social, and emotional development; communication and language; physical development; literacy and numeracy basics.

Key Stage 1 (KS1)

Age: 5–7 years
Year Group: Year 1 and Year 2

FOCUS :
English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art & Design, PE, Computing, etc.

Assessment: National Curriculum Assessments (SATs) at the end of Year 2.

Age: 7–11 years
Year Group: Year 3 to Year 6

FOCUS :
Core and foundation subjects continue with greater depth.

Assessment: SATs at the end of Year 6 in English and Maths.

Age: 11–14 years
Year Group: Year 7 to Year 9

FOCUS :
Broad curriculum including English, Maths, Science, Languages, Humanities, Arts, Technology, and PE.

Assessment: School-based assessments, no formal national exams.

Key Stage 4 (KS4)

Age: 14–16 years
Year Group: Year 10 and Year 11

FOCUS :
Preparation for GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education)

Assessment: GCSE exams at the end of Year 11 in core and optional subjects

Key Stage 5 (Post-16 / Sixth Form)

Age: 16–18 years
Year Group: Year 12 and Year 13

FOCUS :
A-Levels, BTECs, or other vocational qualifications.

Assessment: A-Level exams or equivalent, used for university or career entry.
